A conference organized by the International Development Law Organization (IDLO) in cooperation with the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania and with the support of the Government of Italy.
The Conference will provide a platform for African policymakers, government officials, legal experts and civil society leaders to engage in strategy and policy discussions, exchange knowledge and experience, and strengthen partnerships within Africa and with the international community to advance the rule of law in Africa as an integral element in the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, as well as the corresponding aspirations of the African Union Agenda 2063.
The Conference will open with an inaugural session with senior Tanzanian and other African leaders to set the scene for expert level discussions on the following topics:
1. Effective, accountable and inclusive institutions with a focus on the justice sector
2. Gender equality, access to justice and empowerment of women and girls
3. Health and well-being through the rule of law and access to justice
4. Economic development through the rule of law
IDLO expects this initiative to deepen its partnership with African governments, the legal community and civil society leaders and to open up possibilities for joint initiatives to further the rule of law in the context of the 2030 Agenda and the African Union Agenda for 2063.
